Pair of late inning homers win it for the Phils. Flyers take on the Penguins

After a 4 run first inning Chan Ho Park settled down and gave up just one more run on the day. The Phillies bullpen came in and threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings to keep the Phightins in the game. Utley smacked a 2 run homer off Manny Corpas to tie the game at 5-5 in the 7th inning. The next inning, Pedro Feliz had a bloop double and then Matt Stairs was up and launched a pinch hit bomb into the right-center field bullpen. Lidge then came in to preserve the game for the Phils and won 7-5. The Phils are now 3-3 on the year.

The Flyers lost a game for only the 3rd time this year when leading going into the 3rd period. The loss drops the Flyers to the 5th spot and forces them to go to Pittsburgh for their first round matchup. It could be a huge loss for the Flyers, home ice is key in the playoffs. I’ll post the playoff schedule when it is announced but the Flyers are going in limping. Their defense has not played well at all lately. Sure they have 6 players with 25+ goals but defense and goaltending is where this team struggles and they must turn it around in a hurry.
