Today is a sad day in and around the city of Philadelphia. Long time broadcaster and voice of the Philadelphia Phillies, Harry Kalas passed away today just hours before he was supposed to hit the airwaves and call today’s game. Kalas collapsed in the broadcast booth around 12:30PM and was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:20PM. Phillies President David Montgomery said “we lost Harry, we lost our voice today.” Cause of Kalas’ death is not immediately known.

Harry has been the voice of the Phillies since 1971. He was 73 years old.

Harry, thanks for all the great memories. You will never be forgotten. I will never forget your call of the last pitch of the 2008 World Series. Thank you.
